Moving on and looking out
What sheltering from the pandemic led me to look at …
It’s been 114 days since lockdown was announced in the UK and I’ve been at home the whole time and have no plans to go anywhere for a while yet.
I’ve had daily Zoom calls with my business network which has been a great way to keep everyone connected and also to get a real insight into how people are being affected and what they most need to keep going. Most importantly it provided a safety net and a way to make sure no-one fell through the cracks.
An unexpected benefit is that the friendships that have been built during these often hysterically funny calls are likely to last a long time as people have shared much, much more than they would in a regular networking meeting!
We’ve also had workshops and seminars on the change cycle and what this means for us as individuals, as a community and a society but as always the intellectual understanding is a far cry from the lived experience of a lot of people.
My own experience took me by surprise which is why I’ve decided to resurrect this blog that I started in 2015 and did little with but somehow accumulated 565 followers.
Looking out
The natural reaction to threats is for us to go into survival mode (how that resulted in stock piling toilet rolls I have no idea). Perhaps because my own life changed very little during lockdown and I felt quite safe, I found myself looking at how things could change for the better.
There’s a whole heap of stuff to talk about where I went with this that I’ll explore in future posts so if you’re still following this after all this time I hope you’ll find it interesting!
Some of the topics will include:
Black Lives Matter
Education, employment and diversity
Why I ditched Facebook and finding alternatives
The New Citizen Project
The Conscious Advertising Network
Culture, values, beliefs and expectations
See you down the road I hope …
