Leadership
I see a lot of verbiage on this topic about what is and isn’t good leadership.
I just watched this interview with Terry Hutchinson, the skipper of the yacht competing in the 36th America’s Cup that capsized in New Zealand in January 2021, trapping him underwater.
As an example of leadership, humility, gratitude and determination this is hard to beat.
Terry Hutchinson is an American sailor, eleven-time world champion in the Corel 45, J/24, TP 52, Farr 40 and IMS classes, and a winning tactician of the Louis Vuitton Cup. In 2008 and 2014, he was named Yachtsman of the Year. He has also been part of four America’s Cup campaigns.
The British Yacht, Britannia, skippered by Sir Ben Ainslie is currently leading the race, winning the round robin races fornthe Prada Cup ahead of the Italian Luna Rossa’s Prada Pirrelli team. The fnal will be against the current Cup holders, Te Rehutai, sailed by Emirates Team New Zealand on behalf of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
